Glaucoma, dry eye, infection and examination drops we carry
The eye drops here fall into four groups. For glaucoma and raised eye pressure there is brimonidine, the dorzolamide and timolol combination, and pilocarpine 2%. For chronic dry eye there is ciclosporin 0.05%. For infection there are the antibiotics tobramycin and gatifloxacin, and for inflammation the steroid fluorometholone. Cyclopentolate and tropicamide dilate the pupil and are mainly used for eye examinations.
Getting the drop in, and keeping it there
Technique decides how much medicine reaches the eye. Tilt the head back, pull the lower lid down to form a pocket, let one drop fall without the bottle touching the eye, then close the eye and press gently on the inner corner for a minute. That pressure stops the drop draining away and reduces how much reaches the rest of the body.
Using more than one drop
When two different drops are prescribed, leave at least five minutes between them, or the second washes out the first. Soft contact lenses are usually taken out before using drops and put back later, because preservatives can build up in the lens.
Open bottles and warning signs
Most bottles are discarded four weeks after opening, and ciclosporin single-dose vials are used once and thrown away. Timolol is a beta blocker and can be absorbed enough to matter for people with asthma or a slow heart rate. Sudden eye pain, loss of vision or a very red eye need same-day attention. Every listing shows the molecule, strength and volume, with the guaranteed minimum expiry date. All stock ships from India through licensed distributors.
