Antibiotics applied to the skin

Mupirocin, sold here as T-Bact, Mupicip and B-Bact, is used on small areas of infected skin such as impetigo and infected cuts. Clindamycin gels such as Clindac A are used on acne, often alongside another acne treatment to stop bacteria becoming resistant.

Use topical antibiotics for the length of time your doctor advises, usually a short course, and see a doctor if the area spreads or you develop a fever.
