About Raloxiheal 60MG
Raloxiheal 60MG is Healing Pharma's raloxifene tablet, 60 mg, in a strip of 10 tablets. Raloxifene is a selective oestrogen receptor modulator that protects bone like oestrogen while blocking oestrogen in breast tissue.
What it is used for
Raloxifene is approved to treat and prevent osteoporosis in women after the menopause and to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women at high risk.nnOff label it is used in men for gynaecomastia, including when gynaecomastia develops on testosterone or anabolic steroid use, and to protect bone in men on anti-androgen treatment.
How it works
Raloxifene binds the oestrogen receptor and acts differently in different tissues. In bone it mimics oestrogen, slowing the bone breakdown that follows the menopause. In breast tissue it blocks oestrogen, so breast cells and gynaecomastia tissue are not stimulated. Unlike tamoxifen it does not stimulate the lining of the womb.
How it is taken
One 60 mg tablet once a day, at any time, with or without food, for as long as prescribed. Calcium and vitamin D are usually taken alongside it for osteoporosis. For gynaecomastia the doctor sets the length of treatment.
Side effects
- Hot flushes.n- Leg cramps.n- Swelling of the hands, feet or legs.n- Flu-like symptoms, headache and sweating.n- A higher risk of blood clots in the legs and lungs, and of fatal stroke in women with heart disease risk factors.
Precautions
Raloxifene is not taken in pregnancy or by women before the menopause, and not after a previous blood clot. It is stopped before long periods of immobility, such as surgery or a long flight, and restarted once fully mobile. It is not combined with oestrogen. Tell your doctor about liver or kidney disease and about any history of stroke.
