Havglo Inj (Glutathione)

Havglo Inj is Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd's glutathione injection, 600 mg, in a vial of 5ml vial. Glutathione is a small protein made of three amino acids that works as one of the body's main antioxidants and is given by injection or infusion.

Glutathione injections are used in some countries to support liver function, as an antioxidant adjunct in chemotherapy and in conditions of oxidative stress. Skin lightening is a common but unapproved use, and evidence that it changes skin colour safely is weak.

Glutathione neutralises free radicals, helps the liver clear toxins and keeps other antioxidants such as vitamins C and E active. In the skin, it is thought to shift pigment production from dark eumelanin to lighter pheomelanin, but this effect is not well established in clinical trials.

It is given by slow intravenous injection or infusion, or by intramuscular injection, by a trained health professional, in doses and schedules set by the doctor. Follow your prescription and the pack leaflet.

• Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site.n- Nausea, bloating, stomach cramps or loose stools.n- Allergic reactions, including rash, itching or wheeze.n- Reports of serious skin reactions and kidney or liver problems with high doses taken for skin lightening.

Intravenous glutathione for skin lightening is not approved in some countries, and regulators have warned against it. Not for people with asthma, allergy to glutathione, or pregnancy unless the doctor decides. Give only with sterile technique by a trained person.
