Tadalafil

Tadalafil is Sunrise Remedies's tadalafil tablet, 20 mg, in a strip of 10 tablets. Tadalafil is a long-acting PDE5 inhibitor sold as Cialis, used for erectile dysfunction and for urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate.

Tadalafil is prescribed for erectile dysfunction, for urinary symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and for both together. At 20 mg as Adcirca it is also used for pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Tadalafil blocks the PDE5 enzyme that breaks down cyclic GMP, so blood flows into the penis more easily when there is sexual stimulation. It also relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, which eases urinary flow. Its effect lasts up to about 36 hours, much longer than sildenafil. It starts to work in about 30 to 60 minutes and food does not affect it.

For use when needed, the usual starting dose is 10 mg taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity, raised to 20 mg or lowered to 5 mg if the doctor advises, and not more than once in 24 hours. For daily use, 2.5 mg or 5 mg is taken at about the same time every day, regardless of when sex is planned. Follow your prescription and the pack leaflet.

• Headache and flushing.n- Indigestion or heartburn.n- Stuffy or runny nose.n- Dizziness and, less often, low blood pressure.n- Back pain and muscle aches (most often with tadalafil).n- Temporary changes in colour vision or blurred sight (most often with sildenafil and vardenafil).n- An erection lasting more than four hours (priapism) is rare and needs emergency care.n- Sudden loss of vision or hearing is rare and needs immediate medical attention.

Never take it with nitrate medicines (glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide) or riociguat, because the combined drop in blood pressure can be dangerous. It is not for men whose heart is too weak for sexual activity, after a recent stroke or heart attack, or with severe low blood pressure. Tell your doctor about alpha-blockers, other blood pressure tablets, severe liver or kidney disease, sickle cell disease, retinitis pigmentosa and any penile shape problem. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ritonavir, ketoconazole, clarithromycin) and grapefruit raise the level, so the dose is lowered. These medicines work only with sexual stimulation and do not raise desire. Not for women or children unless prescribed for another condition.
